An Open Letter to Former Brownstone Readers

First and foremost, thank you.

Thank you for having been a past subscriber over the last eight years at Brownstone Research.

And thank you for making the effort to search and find me at Brownridge. I’m grateful and excited to reconnect in my new “house.”

The last few months have been an awkward transition for me. After all, our connection was abruptly severed this summer when I stopped writing and publishing my research and analysis.

For that, I’m sorry. It was deeply disappointing and heartbreaking for me, and yet it was not my decision.

After decades of experience in business, I’ve found one thing is always true. There is always change. Business priorities change, business strategies change, and as an employee of a company, which I was, many decisions were not mine to make.

As a result, on August 26th, 2023, I amicably parted ways with MarketWise, the parent company of Brownstone Research. I wish the team at MarketWise well, and now its time to move on.

I’m reminded of a great quote from Epictetus, “It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.”

While I used some of my newfound time to take care of family matters, and focus more on my health, I’m not one to sit around, relax, and burn our most valuable resource — time. I believe in living life with purpose. Which is exactly what I intend to do. And no, that doesn’t mean retirement.

The reality is that the mission my team and I had got cut short. After eight years of hard work and sacrifice, we had only just arrived to the point where I was able to open up new kind of investment opportunities.

Specifically, I’m referring to those that were previously only accessible to institutional and high net worth investors. I felt like we were just getting started.

That means there is so much more to do.

And I’ll have to do that under a new “house," which will be my own, without the restrictions that come with working for another company. That kind of freedom is special, and I don’t intend to waste it.

I can’t wait to share more with you in the coming weeks. I’ve been busy, hard at work as usual, and I have some fantastic ideas about where to go next.

The current environment that we find ourselves in continues to be challenging. And needless to say, the world has become no less interesting in the last few months. In fact, it has become far more complex and chaotic.

And in chaos, there is always opportunity, which I intend to share with my subscribers as I rebuild that connection, with your help.

In the days that follow, I’ll be sharing more about my new venture, Brownridge Research. And I’ll also begin the process of researching and writing on a daily basis.

The outreach over the last few months has been heartwarming and, more importantly, motivating. It’s the catalyst for me to get back at it, rather than hang up my hat to retire and just invest.

For now, please keep an eye out for the first issue of my new free daily e-letter, Outer Limits. It may not be daily at first. There is a lot of work to be done, but we’ll get there.

I’ll also be opening up the lines for communication so that we can have some fun with a Friday A.M.A. issue (Ask Me Anything) each week. After all, there is never a shortage of interesting topics to discuss.

No matter how chaotic it gets in the months to come, it’s always good for us to remind ourselves that things will improve. The markets will return to health. And the investment opportunities in growth assets will return with a vengeance, which is something I know my subscribers will be ready for.

Thanks for your patience, there is much more to follow…
